Alcatel is known for its mid-range smartphones, but the France-based
company is now taking aim at the premium brands with the Alcatel One Touch Idol
X+.
The OT Idol X features a 5-inch 1080p display and runs on the latest
Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ is powered by a 2GHz
octa-core processor, sporting a 2,500mAh battery.
Depending on the task, the processor will
scale back or ramp up core use from one core to the full eight. Alcatel claims,
offering an 18 per cent power saving over a quad-core chip.
You can enjoy an impressive 5-inch 1080p IPS 441ppi display that is rich in
colours. Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ comes with an impressive
170-degree viewing angle. The 1080 x 1920 resolution screen is amazingly
bright, clear and crisp with an awesome range of viewing angles, which
sometimes are not featured from mid-range handset manufacturers.
HDR and Panorama
features
The Idol X gives a surprisingly strong showing from a firm not known for
its high-end smartphones. This smartphone has a Super slim design, equipped with an impressive 13MP with a good HD
display and a 2-megapixel snapper in the front for video calling. HDR and
Panorama are also activated in the setting window.
The HDR function takes several different images with several different
exposures, combining them at the end to produce an image, which should show a
lot of definition in the light and dark parts of the photo. The camera is also
capable of 1080p Full HD video, making it ideal for Skype chatting and selfie
Vine videos. Movie Solid, a video stabilization technology, has also been
included to smooth out all those shaky shots.
Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ flawlessly matches design with octa-core
performance. Despite the power hidden under the hood, the exterior of the IDOL
X+ keeps to the slim, sleek styling of the IDOL series. IDOL X+ takes styling
and choice to the next level with its
unique IML spin effect and the brushed metallic frame. You
will enjoy high-speed smartphone with an affordable price compared to
the Samsung Galaxy S4 or BlackBerry Z30 or other high-end smartphones.
You can enjoy music from the side
speakers and produce loud quality sound, supporting SACD’s 24bit/192KHz
playback which is four times better than a CD, so you can enjoy your favourite
music collection everyday. Teaming with JBL, Alcatel has placed amplifiers in
the headphone jack and the pair of bottom-firing speakers. In addition to the
aural enhancements, JBL has also created a set of headphones for the Idol X+.
Alcatel One Touch Idol X+, its very first eight-core smartphone, and one of
the world's first in this category as well. The Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ is
one of the big surprises so far at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this
January, 2014 in Las Vegas, USA.
Alcatel has a full complement of
other high-end specs on hand for its marquee smartphone, which will sell in bright white, basic black,
and grey.
Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ is a high specs smartphone
but you can buy this smartphone with a mid-price, below US$400. However,
the company has yet to reveal which, if any, of the U.S. carriers will be
picking up the device. The first initial shipments of the phone will have
Android 4.2 as an operating system with later devices shipping with Android
4.4. or Android Kit Kat.
